Intelligent Marine Intercom System
(iMIS)

Intelligent Marine Intercom System (iMIS) is a state-of-the-art, intelligent, IP-based intercom group communication system designed with a non-switched, group broadcast architecture. It enables seamless voice distribution across intercom units within a group, without relying on a central server, eliminating any single point of failure. The system offers multiple interface options to connect with MB-SRE systems and HF/VHF/UHF radios via a Radio Interface Unit. Built-in compliance with ED-137B makes it future-ready for direct integration with next-generation SDR-based IP radios. Featuring an open, distributed IP architecture, iMIS supports smooth migration from legacy systems to modern IP infrastructure. All LRUs are connected via a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet backbone using a fail-safe ring of core network switches and PoE-enabled edge switches, reducing internal wiring on ships. Its distributed design allows seamless integration with the ship’s data network, leveraging shared IP backbone infrastructure. iMIS also enables: (i) Wireless connectivity with reconnaissance/survey boats via in-service radios (ii) Wired offshore connectivity with office exchanges through MGW when docked.
